Meatsnacks Group is celebrating after being announced as finalists for the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2018.
Shortlisted in the Confectionery, Drink and Snacking Award category for the Speyside Smokehouse Salmon Jerky range. The salmon jerky is high in Omega 3, high in protein and gluten free and made using Scottish farmed Atlantic Salmon fillets that have been marinated and slowly cooked and smoked over beech wood. The salmon jerky is made in a former smoked salmon factory on the banks of the River Spey in the Scottish Highlands.
The product was developed in-house to ensure that the salmon fillets made a true jerky texture and taste. With consumers looking to gain protein from natural sources and the increasing popularity of salmon, jerky is a convenient option to enjoy salmon on the go as it doesn’t need refrigerated and has a shelf life of 12 months.
Winners from all 26 categories will be announced in front of 800 guests at the prestigious awards ceremony and dinner on Thursday 7 June at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC).

The awards received a record 273 entries. New for this year was the introduction of an Innovation category, as well as an increase in the age limit for the Young Talent to ages 26 and under, to coincide and celebrate the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People 2018.
