Why Jerky and Biltong are becoming such popular snacks

There can’t be too many of us that don’t like a snack at some point during the day. But the problem has long been that so many snacks – crisps and chocolate being prime examples – are typically high in fat, and whilst they might taste good they seldom offer higher protein balanced nutrition.

Both beef jerky and beef biltong are high in protein, low in fat, and definitely taste great as well! At least that’s certainly true of all of our brands, and if you’ve never tried any of them but have in your mind that the product is overly-chewy (a popular misconception often driven by bad experiences with lesser brands) then just one try will quickly dispel that myth.

For sports, work, on the go, or just relaxing at home

Jerky and biltong are both hugely popular with athletes and sports people because of the high levels of protein packed into every piece of beef – or pork in the case of our Hogbites jerky. A pack of jerky or biltong is also light to carry in a sports bag or backpack and doesn’t need refrigeration. But you don’t have to be an Olympic runner or arctic explorer to enjoy jerky and biltong, and it’s also the perfect snack when at work, on the go, or just at home to share (or just to keep all to yourself) with family and friends.
