When did you first get into fitness modelling?
I first started modelling whilst I was at Loughborough University around 8 years ago now. During my first year there I started going to the gym and weight training for the first time. A friend of mine had done some modelling and he showed me the ropes. But really in the fitness modelling world, like many things in life, if you want something you have to go out and get it yourself and be very self-motivated.
What has been your most memorable shoot?
My first shoot was very memorable for me, as not only was it my first but also because I was lucky enough to shoot with Men’s Health Magazine; this started a long relationship with them and I have shot with them on numerous occasions. One of those occasions is the other shoot I would say is my most memorable and that was my first cover shoot for them.
How many hours a week do you have to train for?
I try to train as smart as I can, and by that I mean in the most effective method I can. When I train I like to be focused and not to waste time or energy on other things. I would say I do not have an average amount of hours I train a week, due to a busy and constantly changing schedule but each session of mine is around 45-60 mins long. Though I am flexible with this, and I often add 20 minutes of cardio at the end. I feel this allows enough time to really work a muscle group or two, without over-training and without the gym getting in the way of other areas of life. I try to train a minimum of around 3 times a week.
How does Wild West Beef Jerky assist with your training regime?
Wild West Beef Jerky assists my training by allowing me to fine tune my diet. A high protein diet is essential for a number of key things, such as: gaining muscle, maintaining muscle, recovery and staying lean. Wild West Beef Jerky is low fat, high protein and low carb, and it is also great tasting and something I can eat any time of the day. There are a number of different varieties which is great for keeping my diet interesting. Staying lean all year round is something I have to do as a fitness model, and Wild West Beef Jerky makes this easier because snacking on a tasty low fat and high protein snack is exactly what I need and stops me craving sugary/fatty snacks.
Do you have a specific meal plan that you stick to?
I try not to be to regimental with a meal plan, but I do make a conscious effort to eat a high protein and relatively low-fat diet. I eat three meals a day with snacking on Wild West Beef Jerky in between when hungry, or even later on in the day as I don’t feel guilty as it’s not carb heavy!
What projects have you got coming up that you are training towards?
As I said I like to stay lean all year round, I am approaching 30 years old and would like to hit that in the best shape of my life to show that even with a business life and your body getting older you can look how you want if you train hard and eat well. I recently completed a half Ironman, so really I should be looking at what I would like to complete next!
