Team Shorter’s summer break is almost over following the last outing at Donington Park at the end of July. John and the team were unlucky not to qualify in the top 6 at Donington, narrowly missing out when they gambled with slick tyres on a damp, but drying track.
Race 1 was in dry conditions with John starting 7th on the grid – unfortunately contact from another truck at the end of lap 1 caused John to get stuck in the gravel – resulting in fairly significant damage.
The team and visiting friends worked hard to get the truck back out for Race 2 which happened shortly after a heavy downpour. They battled from 7th again, making a place mid race in a great battle with another truck. Unfortunately they lost that place towards the end of the race but very nearly snatched it back on the finish line! This event was televised a week ago and the team were pleased to say the majority of the footage of race 2 was on their truck during this on-track battle.
Repairs have now been completed ahead of Snetterton this weekend. The team are really hoping for some luck as they have been taken out during 3 races of the last 4. John and the team find it hard to believe this is their penultimate event of 2017.
